KBS Additive solutions for Solvent-Free Polyurethane Coatings

The series is designed for KBS Solvent-Free Polyurethane System additive solutions. Its core performance targets are: viscosity reduction, anti-floating, gloss stabilization, anti-settling, sag resistance, wetting and leveling, defoaming without cratering, and dark foam elimination.

Dispersants: Stable Color, Lower Viscosity and Better Gloss

Solvent-free polyurethane systems often require high filler loading and stable pigment dispersion. Poor dispersion can lead to high viscosity, settling, floating color, gloss loss and uneven surface appearance. The KBS dispersant range offers targeted solutions:

•       KBS-F5050 — General-purpose and cost-effective viscosity-reducing dispersant.
•       KBS-F4020 — Modified polyurethane dispersant. Inhibits floating color, stabilizes gloss, reduces inorganic viscosity and improves organic dispersion. Suitable for polyether, polyester, hydroxypropylene and castor oil systems.
•       KBS-F8020 — 100% active acid polyester dispersant. Strong viscosity reduction, especially for solvent-free polyether polyurethane systems.
•      KBS-F110K — Acid polyester dispersant for inorganic pigment and filler dispersion in top coats. Provides gloss, viscosity reduction and excellent color spreading. Universal for polyether, polyester, hydroxypropylene and castor oil systems.
•       KBS-F161A — Modified polyurethane polymer additive for efficient dispersion of organic pigments, inorganic pigments and carbon black.
•       KBS-F104S — Silicone compound for anti-floating and anti-discoloration. Can be added before or after.

Recommended for: solvent-free PU topcoats, self-leveling systems, pigmented coatings, carbon black systems, color pastes and formulations requiring gloss stability.

Thixotropic Agent: Anti-Settling, Sag Resistance and Color Uniformity

• KBS-C410 is an organic polyurethane thixotropic agent designed for solvent-free polyurethane systems. It has small effect on transparency, viscosity, gloss, storage stability and curing activity. It provides excellent anti-settling performance, sag resistance and inhibits floating color and bloom.

Recommended for: solvent-free PU coatings and floorings where storage stability, vertical sag resistance and color uniformity are required.

Leveling Agents: From Wetting and Orange Peel Control to Long-Wave Leveling

Surface defects such as poor wetting, orange peel, shrinkage and uneven leveling are common in solvent-free polyurethane coatings. KBS leveling agents help achieve a smooth, uniform and high-quality finish.

• KBS-L333 — Polyether modified silicone. Excellent wetting and leveling properties; improves shrinkage, orange peel and similar defects.
• KBS-L3310 — Polyether modified silicone. Excellent wetting and leveling properties with foam inhibition.
• KBS-L358NK — Polyacrylate solution. Acrylate long-wave leveling agent; improves orange peel and similar defects.
• KBS-L3777E — Fluorine modified acrylate solution. Achieves long-wave leveling and helps eliminate dark foam in polyurethane systems.

Recommended for: solvent-free PU topcoats, self-leveling systems, thick-film coatings and systems requiring long-wave leveling.

Defoamers: Strong Foam Control Without Cratering

KBS Solvent-Free Polyurethane System additive solutions are often thick, high-solids and prone to entrapped air. Poor defoamer selection can cause cratering, pinholes, poor compatibility and surface defects. KBS defoamers are designed to balance defoaming power, compatibility and surface quality.

• KBS-X052K — Polyacrylate non-silicone defoamer. Not easy to cause cratering or pinholes.
• KBS-X066N — Fluorine-modified organosilicon defoamer. Strong defoaming and foam inhibition.
• KBS-X6800A — Modified silicone. Excellent foam inhibition and defoaming. Suitable for roller coating, scraper coating and other thick-coating applications. Fast foam breaking.
• KBS-X053 — Non-silicone defoamer. Better effect in PU systems.

Recommended for: solvent-free PU thick coatings, roller coatings, scraper coatings, self-leveling systems and formulations requiring strong foam control.
